The Canadian Birkebeiner Society began in 1985 and evolved into the Canadian Birkie Ski Festival (a premier and family-friendly classic-style cross-country ski festival in Western Canada, featuring five classic technique ski events). Participants can ski 7 km, 13 km, 31 km, 55 km, and the legendary 55 km with pack.
